ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:
Adrian A. Arriaga, CIPS, is the Broker/Owner of AAA Real Estate & Investments in McAllen, Texas. A Commercial REALTOR since 1985, he represents investors from Mexico, Germany and Korea in Texas and has represented U.S. companies relocate in northern Mexico. He currently serves as REALTOR of Record of several national U.S. companies in South Texas, including COSTCO & JP Morgan Chase.
Adrian is an NAR Director and has served NAR in numerous leadership positions. He has served as the NAR Presidential Liaison to Mexico, responsible for overseeing all NAR activities in Mexico. He also assisted in creating the new NAR course entitled, “Doing Business in Mexico” that is a certified four-hour MCE course which is offered to all REALTORS in the U.S. and Mexico.
Adrian is the 2011 Chair of the NAR Global Business & Alliance Committee. This proactive committee oversees activities in 61 countries where NAR has business relationships. Adrian is past Chair of the Commercial Legislative & Regulatory Committee for NAR's REALTORS Commercial Alliance (RCA), and past Chair of the NAR Equal Opportunity & Diversity Committee.
J. Carmichael “Mike” Calder is Director of International Underwriting for First American Title Insurance Company. Based in the corporate headquaters in Santa Ana, California, he is responsible for providing underwriting support and training to First American’s international underwriting teams, for underwriting major international transactions, for overseeing and conducting due diligence on potential new areas, for development of policy forms for those new areas, and for overall underwriting risk management for the various First American international title insurance operations. He is in his 35th year in the title industry and 30th year with First American.
Mike is recognized for his expertise in title registration and conveyancing systems around the world. He has consulted with various companies in the U.S. and abroad concerned about title transfer issues in other parts of the world and is very knowledgeable in International title issues. He is an expert contributor to the World Bank’s Doing Business series, the author of numerous articles on international title insurance, a member of the American Land Title Association’s International Development Committee, and a former member of both the American Land Title Association’s liaison committee with the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping and the prestigious California Land Title Association’s Forms and Practices Committee. Mike is a frequent speaker to industry groups and at continuing legal education meetings in various venues around the world.
